| SIRAHA
DISTRICT Siraha is one of the eastern Terai districts where
the Rural Community Infrastructure Works (RCIW) Programme has been implemented
for last seven years since 1995. The total cost of all projects implemented during 2001/2 was NRs. 11.81 million, incl. 428 tons WFP rice, materials, skilled labour cost, and ITSH provided by MLD, material cost from DSCWM, cost of crates and boulders provided by GTZ, VDC cash and UG contribution. Altogether work equivalent to 428 MT rice was performed.

The
Programme in the district is being implemented through 2 line agencies.
10 rural roads (incl. 1 backbone project covering 5 VDCs) are implemented
by DDC through District Programme Support Unit (DPSU) in 10 VDCs. Other
projects likes catchment ponds, river training works, irrigation canals,
women only ponds and plantation projects are implemented through District
Soil Conservation Office (DSCO) in 12 VDCs.
