BANKE DISTRICT

Freed Kamaiya Food Security Project (FKFSP) was launched in Banke in 2000 by introducing it within the Rural Community Infrastructure Works (RCIW) Programme. However, the RCIW Programme was first implemented in the FY 052/53 in Banke district and with the completion of two working seasons of FKFSP it has now completed its 7th year of RCIW programme implementation.

The FKFSP was formulated by the partners of the Rural Community Infrastructure Works (RCIW) Programme - WFP, GTZ and HMG through MLD to support the settlement process of the freed Kamaiyas families and to improve the livelihood of freed Kamaiyas in mid and far western terai districts of Nepal. Accordingly the project was launched in 5 districts - Dang, Banke, Bardiya, Kailali and Kanchanpur.
