Introduction

Welcome to Rural Community Infrastructure Works Programme (RCIW)

RCIW is of one of the most important poverty reduction programmes of the Government of Nepal. Its three main objectives are to improve the food security situation, rural physical infrastructure and the self-help capacity of about 1/2 million food insecure households living in 30 food deficit districts.

RCIW is funded by many donors and has an annual budget of about US$ 8 million. The Programme is jointly implemented by the Ministry of Local Development (MLD), the UN World Food Programme (WFP) and the GTZ-Integrated Food Security Project (IFSP). The duration of the second phase of the Programme is five years (2001 to 2006).
